Yet another surgery
Brief PM update: after physical therapy, there is popping and some level of bending in my knee. I will need to let my limb specialist know this before I head into surgery tomorrow so they can check the screws and the cement to ensure there isn't (a)septic loosening of the fusion AND regardless hopefully fix the issue when they have me open. To me, if feels like something has come apart in my leg, things are unstable and it is quite painful at the current moment. Wish me the best and hope this is something simple they can fix without making the pain any worse than it is currently, or requiring a longer/more invasive surgery that will require some post-surgical hospitalization.
So I just got back from an appointment prior to the holidays with my ortho specialist. Given the patch-up job from last Friday doesn't seem to be resolving my drainage issue, they are wanting to whisk me into surgery tomorrow. It would be sad, if it wasn't funny at this point stating that I'm used to surgeries enough I'm not too stressed out about it.
So the plan for tomorrow is to see my PM specialist, tell her how the modified regimen is going - which is mostly better, then break it to her that I'm going into surgery for the forth time this year. Then the plan is since I'm already down in Denver is to drive myself to pre-surgery at PSL (check-in: 12PM, surgery:2 PM) and then probably pay to have my Mom Uber down to pick me up, along with the car once I'm ready to leave recovery.
So yeah, things haven't been great. Adding further insult to injury is the fact that either tomorrow (or Thursday) the entire sewer line to the house is getting replaced. They are tearing out the entirety of a busy road in my hometown to resolve issues with the line that have been present since late 2019, early 2020. My Mom has been working all sorts of hours at the jail, so again, here is to a better 2022. 2021 as a whole has sucked. Of course simply talking about it, there is a worry that those hopes will be jinxed, but hopefully that's not the case and we'll have a new sewer and I'll be on the mend and ready to discontinue my IV antibiotics two weeks from now. Then wait another two weeks to aspirate out the joint and see if the infection has cleared. Obviously, this won't be possible if my incision isn't fully healed and if attempted will only further serve as a confound and at least potentially pose a serious health risk to me if things become septic.
I'll try to post something tomorrow. It will be post-anesthesia, but honestly - even still I usually have my shit pretty well together. It may not be evident by the look on my face, but I have had enough surgeries that (and given my controlled response to the drugs) I should be mostly together, although tired and probably/hopefully feeling good so I don't care of the pain, etc.
Still working some remotely for the time being.
But for now, onto the next thing - PT at 4PM. Hopefully he can help with the stiff neck issues I have been experiencing.
